The Central Virginia Soccer Association
40 Years of the Best Adult Soccer in the Richmond Area

Welcome to the website of the Central Virginia Soccer Association. This site is updated perpetually and will contain current schedules, standings, and other happenings in the league.

The Central Virginia Soccer Association (CVSA) is a non-profit, adult soccer league headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. Games are played at various sites in the city of Richmond, as well as Hanover, Henrico & Chesterfield Counties. The league is in the misdt of its 49th year of operation, having started play in the Fall of 1975, and is the oldest and most competitive in the Richmond Metropolitan Area. The CVSA is sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) through its membership in the Metro D. C. - Virginia Soccer Association (MDCVSA), with whom it participates in U. S. Open Cup, USASA National Cup and MDCVSA State & Challenge Cup tournaments. The CVSA hosted the MDCVSA State Championships at the Bryan Park Soccer Complex from 2000-2005, and continues to be an integral part of the maintenance and development of that facility, having provided over half of the funds to build the facility, which opened 24 years ago in April 1999.

Currently . . . the historic rains continue and the league navigates the perilous seas of the Spring '24 season.

2022-'23 CVSA CUP & COPA BRUCE

Brambly Park FC - 2022-'23 CVSA Cup Champions

The 2022-'23 CVSA Cup & Copa Bruce came to a glorious end on Saturday, June 3 at Longdale as part of the CVSA's member appreciation day.

Brambly Park FC, last season's runners-up, took their first major trophy with a 2:1 win over the Richmond Capitals. The sting of last year's defeat drove them through their five-game gauntlet, with their last three cup matches each decided by a goal. John LaPointe opened the scoring, and Aaron Scherk hit the winner at 57' as Brambly won their first CVSA Major Championship.

In the Copa Bruce, some rule changes were made to return the tournament to whom it was originally designed - the lower divisions of the league. Gone from the tournament were Premier, First, & Second Division players, some of whom made a living plying their trade against hopelessly overmatched opponents. In the end, it was addition by subtraction, and Jamaica House FC, who started the tournament in the Fifth Division, proved to be too much for one of the leagues better Cinderella stories of recent years, Chesterfield Wild FC of the Seventh Division, turning a competitive 2:0 contest at the interval into a 7:0 rout. Chesterfield Wild FC had a great run, taking down a Fourth, two Fifth, and a Veterans Division team, winning five Copa Bruce games in the tournament. As Jamaica House FC is slated for next fall's Third Division, it looks like we will have a new champion for 2023-'24.

All scores are posted on the CVSA Cup page of the CVSA website.

For 2023-'24, the tentative date for the cup finals is Saturday, June 1, 2024. Plan your vacations accordingly.
